1. Agreement
By accessing or using DCSchools.com (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Site. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
2. About the Site
DCSchools.com is an independent, free-to-use directory and information resource for public, charter, and private schools in Washington, D.C. We aggregate publicly available data, provide editorial guides, and publish news briefs about DC education. We are not affiliated with District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS), the DC Public Charter School Board (DCPCSB), the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), or any other government entity unless explicitly stated.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any local, state, federal, or international law;
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically copy content from the Site without prior written permission;
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers, or related systems;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Site or any associated networks;
- Use automated tools (bots, crawlers) in a manner that places undue load on the Site;
- Misrepresent your affiliation with any person, school, or organization.
4. Content accuracy disclaimer
We make reasonable efforts to keep school information accurate and up to date, including enrollment numbers, addresses, programs, and leadership. However, school data changes frequently, and we cannot guarantee that all information is current or error-free. Always verify critical information (enrollment deadlines, application requirements, tuition, contact details) directly with the school before making decisions. DCSchools.com is not liable for decisions made based on information presented on the Site.
5. Editorial standards

6. Intellectual property
All editorial content, guides, news briefs, page designs, logos, and source code on the Site are the property of DC Schools Guide and are protected by U.S. copyright and trademark law. School names, logos, and photographs remain the property of their respective schools and are used to identify the schools we cover. You may link to pages on the Site freely; you may not republish substantial portions of our content without written permission.
7. Third-party links and embeds
The Site contains links to third-party websites (school websites, news publishers, government resources) and embedded third-party content (Google Maps, video). We do not control and are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of those third parties. Following an external link is at your own risk.
8. Affiliate disclosure
Some links on the Site, such as tutoring partner links, are affiliate links. If you click through and complete a qualifying action, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial coverage of schools.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DC Schools Guide, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Site, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the District of Columbia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in the District of Columbia.
